Does Ukraine really only have 50 tanks in its inventory? Or perhaps you mean 50 Abrams tanks plus many other tanks of different types?

They have a lot of Leopards and Soviet stuff as well - Wes is referring to the Abrams

Thanks for the video. 1. If the tanks were slated for retirement, does it really count as a $164 million donation, or is the accurate accounting for Australia a savings in expected decommissioning costs (the cost of the Brisbane scrapyard) minus delivery expenses to Ukraine?

2. If the tanks were slated for retirement, and need refurbishment, will they be effective in combat? Will they require too much maintenance and become a huge cost and headache to Ukraine?

1. The $164m is the theoretical value if the Australian Army sold them (some creative accounting by the Australian Government). It’s likely to be cheaper to send these to Ukraine than to dispose of them

2. These should be in good working condition, we didn’t send our F-18’s because they really were end of life.

Helicopters next please, Minister Conroy.
