The problem is that all the company needs to do is move it’s HQ and ground stations out of the USA and that’s the end of it. No one will domicile here ever again. You have to work this stuff out in advance, not once the satellites are in orbit. Like Musk left California when they targeted him, he can walk on outta here just as easily.

This is a good point.

Where would he be able to go that would be more laissez-faire than the US? Europe? China? Australia? Maybe Argentina but South America is pretty well known for having not a lot of continuity when The People get annoyed and decide to throw the bums out. Some African nation? Would they have the infrastructure to support a satellite company?

Would Musk realy move all of SPACEX out and annoy the gov. of his largest market? Don't forget Musk caved to the Brazilian gov.

Try to eminent domain his domain and watch him fly like an eagle to the nearest capitalist haven. Actually, like my Jewish friends say, Israel’s days are numbered, and if the US goes, what is left? Europe is circling the toilet. South America??? The Aussies have lost their sh-t. Maybe the Kiwis??

Exactly! Where to go? He would not only be leaving his market but his best source of tech. & labour. What techi wants to live in the Kiwis?? He is much more likely to spread some more money around & work out a deal.

Musk is not going anywhere. Too much of his business is US-centric for him to move and maintain his fortune. SpaceX relies on NASA contracts and he needs US launchpads for Starlink, Tesla has to compete with Chinese EVs everywhere else in the world, X doesn’t make anything and no one would morn its loss, and Grok is only useful for, wait, does anyone use it?

Musk ain’t going anywhere and no one’s going to trust him in the future. And it’ll be another example of the US as an unreliable ally.

John Galt may think that he is free of the burden of the state but spcex operates under US licenses for launch and spectrum. Much of their equipment is export controlled. If they move offshore without export licenses everyone involved can go to federal ass pounding prison. If SpaceX chooses to go rogue and operate without the licenses the dod can shut down links or freeze payments

Yes, but an overbearing USG could be crippling its relationship with a resource massively important to it. And if you dont think a Democrat Adminstration will have Musk squarely in its sights, think again. Not to mention that judging by the DoD’s putrid performance the last 20 years, and the left’s hostility to wealth, if they take back Congress, I woul start staging somewhere, and looking to make friends. Europe is the canary in this mine. Perhaps the Pacific Republic of Muskovia , with the purchase of a new island nation? By the pricking of my thumbs…

Who will buy Starlink/Starshield from Musk after this, once you’ve lost trust it’s hard to get it back

Nicely laid out. Follows the rule to first historicize.

Insightful! Thank you for sharing it.

I think that Musk needs a kill switch… he messes with the switch and he has a tragic reduction in his lifespan. 😡
