Hey friends.
Friday’s article, the history professor looking back, took a lot out of me. For me, writing something more creative like that, (beyond the standard mil-tech piece), is a contact sport. Like boxing.
There’s some yelling, some crying, some violence against my keyboard.
So, I almost took today off from writing…
But after spending all of Saturday in a completely blacked-out bedroom watching HGTV with some Keebler Harry Potter-themed Butterbeer fudge striped cookies… I’m back in action.
I saw this news and I thought it would be perfect for my paid subscribers: “we few, we happy few, we band of brothers (and sisters)…”
A Ukrainian air-defense operator named Vasyl recently described a growing problem that I think we should look at.
His mobile team used to engage Russian Shaheds flying about a kilometer above the ground, sometimes a kilometer and a half. Those were perfectly reasonable targets for the weapons his crew carried.
Now the Russian drones are turning up at four, five and even seven kilometers high.
Imagine spending another night on air-defense duty, watching a Russian attack drone approach Kyiv, only to discover that the bastard is flying several kilometers beyond your weapon’s reach.
