The day has come when countries are going to have to decide whether national security is more important than 100% safety. One of these days, those drones will be armed and fire the opening shots of a war. What if those drones over the French nuclear sub had been armed? One hit on it would disable a vital warship for relative pennies.
I spent a large part of my career in airline operations. I get it. It's going to be hard to figure out the rules of engagement. We're going to have to adapt to a rapidly changing world of threats with equally rapid countermeasures. We have no other choice.
I guess intercepting drones with drones could be a solution, but there’s still a problem with radar systems that could find and follow that kind of small targets and in this kind of environment.
A sticky wicket, indeed. Perhaps it will come down to widely arming authorities with similar drones, matching the enemies capabilities, that can fly into the mix and start two stepping with the enemy. Maybe a drone that could approach and fire a net projectile that would essentially capture the bad guy and bring it down. Sounds a little crazy but most of these things sound bizarre at first.
The technology with a drone shooting a net to catch another drone has already been used in Ukraine for some time ago. But I haven’t heard much about it for the last couple of years, so I guess it wasn’t very efficient anyway.

Glad you’re opening a wider discussion. Inattention to gray warfare tactics will possibly result in millions of dollars of civilian losses.
Directed energy weapons seem promising but we’ve been hearing about their potential for decades.
perhaps a nato joint decision would be the answer
"Gray war" is Russia's specialty and has been for centuries.
Do you have any recommendations?
Good work Wes, as always. Excellent insight.

But you have the right mindset! 👍😁

Ah! I didn’t know that. Thx.
